Rain in the forecast before next week's cooldown

Temperatures remain above average this weekend, with the potential for another record-breaking high temperature on Monday, paired with showers.

High winds are blowing through the Treasure Valley this evening, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour expected in the Treasure Valley and eastward through Sunday at 11 a.m.

Sunday remains warm, with an expected high of 49 degrees, paired with partly cloudy conditions throughout the gem-state.

As is often the case in the mountains around Boise, temperatures are solidly in the 30s, with strong conditions for significant snowfall on Monday and next Friday.

Current systems continue to cover the gem state in a layer of clouds that will be sticking around through next week, settling into quasi-inversion conditions from Tuesday onward.

Moisture associated with the system could create more opportunities for spotty rain showers throughout the week, with the continued possibility of high winds associated with the trough moving in from the California coast.

Temperatures will plummet in the mountains as the week continues, with overnight lows settling below freezing this week.

Those traveling through the mountains this weekend should expect wind gusts, snow flurries, and the potential for overnight ice accumulation on roads.
